Yesterday I saw a new doctor about all my digestive ailments. I also broke out into a terrible rash. The doctor said he didn't buy that it was all in my head and said that when doctors tell you that, it doesn't mean it's in your head, it just means that it isn't in theirs!

The doctor spent an hour with me going over the history and origin of everything that had happened. He had two ideas. Number one is that I may have a problem detoxifying my body, as evidenced by my senstivity to many drugs and my inability to drink alcohol without getting a headache. He thinks that my dental amalgams (aka silver fillings) may be causing a problem. I recently had them all removed (not because I knew anything about the dangers of amalgams, but because they were cracked and old) and that may have released mercury into my system. There is lots of controversy about dental amalgams and Health Canada has deemed the risk to be low. However, there is lots of evidence anecdotal and other that indicates that the amount of mercury in amalgams may be dangerous for some people. Sometimes having them removed can release mercury into your system. It's weird that I really had no idea that there was mercury in fillings, and I have a mouthful of them, sometimes more than one in one tooth. All of my fillings (I have about 20) are now filled with white resin, which is apparently better.

Also, another thing we are exploring is a neurotransmitter depletion. Neurotransmitters are chemicals in your brain that help your body and brain communicate. Lack of them can be exacerbated by use of drugs such as Paxil, Imitrex, Maxalt, all of which I am familiar with. It can also be the cause of migraine headaches, which I've had for many years. Anyway, I am going to try amino acid therapy for that. I will keep you posted on how I do!
