Train 48 Update
I'm sure you guys are dying to know how my Train 48 flaming went. Well, it would appear there are actually Train 48 fans out there. Someone attacked a typo in my post - I quickly responded by pointing out that her stupid screen-name was misspelled. (NB no one past the age of 12 should try to pass themselves off as "gurl." Nice to know I have a few allies though: Mark from Toronto had this to say:
I have to agree with Hilary's comments, this show is ready for the trash can. a nice big train wreck would be the best way to end the show, BOOM! we all know these so called "actors" have no careers after this anyway...
and Rosemarie, also from Toronto said:
We have to congratulate and thank Hilary as the only lucid Canadian on this site...props to you!!
I was however, relieved to find out that this show apparently does not rely on government subsidies. If Canada was paying for this, I'd have to throw myself on the tracks in protest.
I'm closing the comments on most of my entries, but leaving them open on Train 48! Hey, I dig the traffic!
Comments
"Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Train" The only award that this stinkin' show is going to get is for worst theme song. Unlike you, I was shocked to discover that this show is not subsidized - at least then there would be a reason why this terrible show is still on the air!

Dear Hilary,
everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, and i do respect yours, as i'm sure you were to expect that not everyone will agree with it. Anyhow, I was much like yourself, very much in disagreement with the show. However, maybe due to the lack of having cable tv/satelite, I've come to enjoy watching this on-board train soap. Perhaps it's the raw-ness, lack of script, originality, or the fact that it's unlike anything else on tv, that draws its appeal. The thing that does appeal to me most is that several demographics on the show are represented quite accurately, despite the fact that the dialogue may be unrealistic.
I do agree with your earlier post that CSI is a really damn good show, but, take in mind that train 48 is filmed everyday talking about current events of that day - so, the lack of preparation and budget should also be taken into consideration.
Nevertheless, the show's originality and supposed success on a primetime slot cannot be overlooked.

It must be tough to be so perfect, Hilary. While you're certainly entitled to your opinion, I've never understood why people think it's acceptable, or even necessary, to b*tch about things they know nothing about, simply for the love of being a b*tch.
Do you have an inkling of how a TV show is even made? Given the budgetary and time constraints that Train 48 is under, I am continually impressed with what they are able to create. I'd like to see you do better, I really would.
Those who can, do. Those who can't, flame on the Internet, I guess.

um, yeah, that's kind of my point. those who can do... unfortunately those who can't also do. unfortunately i feel that train 48 writers/actors/associate producers fall into the latter category, though i have kindly left up many messages in my blog explaining to me what i am wrong.
as for flaming: hello pot, meet kettle. it's not really fair to criticise me for flaming when you are doing the exact same thing!

Dear Kettle,
What I did was not flaming.
Flaming is when a person rants because they're egotistical enough to believe people will be impressed by it. I only call down people who badmouth someone who has never badmouthed them. I don't think that's very fair.
Again, I don't think you're wrong to dislike Train 48 or any show, I just don't understand the need to publicly trash it both on your site and Global's. I guess it's your right, but it just seems mean.
Que sera, sera.

flaming is when someone writes something deliberately provocative to annoy someone else. insinuating that i'm a bitch and using lame-o sarcastic language to imply i think i'm perfect is just that.
i think a lot of people wonder why this show is on the air, as evidenced by the large proportion of flamers on the discussion board. at least i am here to represent their viewpoint.
yes, that is just my opinion. and yes, i am entitled to it. last i checked, we still were, at least in this country.

I don't see it as an excuse that they have a small budget, etc. I'm I going to say a street performer should be rated alongside operas and musicals, because the street performer should automatically be given a ratings boost because he simply doesn't have a large budget?
There are large budget televisions shows that suck as well. I personally don't like Train 48 either.

Hey Hilary,
From the tone of your posts it seems that you think very highly of yourself. Funny, you don't sound intelligent at all. There are ways to voice your opinion without making people who enjoy a show like TRAIN 48 feel stupid or lower than yourself. You are entitled to your opinion but being aware of other people's tastes and respecting them doesn't seem so bad a thing either. Hilary-you are a brainless LOSER. NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH KISS MY ASS!

why do you have such a hate on for poor little train 48? i'd prefer to express my dislike for the lame writing on CSI, Law and Order, and so many other US shows that really OUGHT to be better b/c their writers, directors, and actors are being such paid mega-bucks ... the cast of train 48 is paid scale to improvise on the day's events, and I think they do a heck of a good job ... you're a very nasty person, hillary ...

Train 48 is a trainwreck. I have to agree. Bongo night at the senior's centre holds more appeal.
By the way, if you don't like what Hilary has to say, don't read her blog! it's that simple! a blog is like a jounral, hence, people express their opinions and don't write objective articles. If you want objectivity and "easy to swallow" opinions go buy a newspaper.
Thanks for coming out...

I must agree with you 100% Hilary, train 48 is without a doubt one of the worst shows to come out of Canada in some time, and that's saying something. It baffles me how this show has a following, all I can assume is that people today settle for whatever is on, it doesn't seem to matter what it is. Great site Hilary and I hope you don't mind but I stole one of your blurbs and posted it on my website, giving you full credit of course!

Anyone who declares they are big fans of Train 48 needs their heads examined. Have we been fed so much garbage on TV that a show as crappy as this has developed a fan base? I will however comment on the actors, as I know some of them. Don't judge their abilities on this show, as the ones I know are truly talented actors just stuck in a truly stupid production. The only reason this show is on the air is it fills the need for Canadian content without costing anything.
