Brie and Pear Pizza

Out of my gluten-free phase and bringing on the hedonistic food tendencies I thought I'd share another (original!) recipe in this rather sparse category. I was inspired by a meal I had at a pub and figured out how to make it. I think mine is even better.

Ingredients:
Pizza Shell
A dab of butter
A handful of basil
2-3 tbsp olive oil
Pine nuts (optional)
1-2 Pear(s)
Brown Sugar (a tablespoon or two)
1/2 a round of Brie

What to do:
1. (Note, if you do not have a food processor or blender you should do step 2 first, as it will take slightly longer.) Turn the oven onto 350F. Slice the pears into thin, flat wedges. Heat the butter in the frying pan. Put the pears in pan and sprinkle a little brown sugar on them. Fry them up for about 5 minutes per side.

2. While the pears are frying, throw the basil, olive oil and pine nuts into a food processor. If you don't have a food processor, you will have to chop it. (But I recommend the mini-food processor which can be obtained for around $10-$30. I got mine for $9.95 at Loblaws.) Spread the pesto onto the pizza crust.

3. Slice the brie into long skinny wedges. Put the pear over the pesto, then throw the brie on top of it all.

4. Put it in the oven and let it cook for about 20 minutes, or until the brie is nicely melted.
